taiwanese artist li chen is known for creating sculptures that fuse zen ideas with contemporary art practice. in the exhibition ‘soul guardians: in an age of disaster and calamites’ chen created three large scale installations. standing at three meters tall, coated with gold leaf are two figures ‘mind taking guard’ and ‘soul taking guard’ which act as a centerpiece for the installation.
