taiwanese architect shu-chang kung designed the ‘radix’ house. the radix house pays tribute to le corbusier’s ‘villa savoie’, a house that demonstrated an elevated mass off the ground and a roof garden that restored the ground underneath. composed of five objects the ‘radix’ house represents natural flows and temperaments using different dimensions. each respond to distinctive orientations and landscapes. for instance the facades facing the east and west have small windows to shield from winter winds and summer sunlight. the overall design is to appreciate and accentuate the idea of living in a forest.
