milan design week 2017: located at superstudio piu in the tortona district, TOKUJIN YOSHIOKA X LG : S.F_SENSES OF THE FUTURE will showcase a large-scale light installation by LG in collaboration with designer, tokujin yoshioka. as the company’s first appearance at a milano design week, the large-scale light artwork aims to commemorate their 70th anniversary by highlighting their long-standing passion for design as well as innovation. to achieve this they will team up with renowned japanese designer, tokujin yoshioka, who is famed for his experimental techniques that channel the complexity of human sense and echoes the awe-inspiring qualities of nature. the result reflects how these beautiful qualities have influenced and been integrated within the field of design, art and architecture.

when we were children, we freely imagined the future and we sensed our destinies in our dreams and S.F_SENSES OF THE FUTURE is an expression of science fiction, technology, space and life highlighting the state of LG’s technology,explained tokujin yoshioka.the installation is a poetic phenomenon that can only be described as a tapestry of light – a truly futuristic dimension which confounds and transcends the human senses.

building upon the limitless imagination of our youth, LG’s installation will also present a reinterpretation of the chair, which transcends from just a material form to actually embrace human senses. titled ‘S.F CHAIR’, the futuristic creation merges natural light and technology to realize an organic-looking product that radiates an artwork of bright beams. it enhances a double-sided OLED digital signage, which is just 15 mm thick, resulting in an emotion-evoking illumination that mesmerizes our senses and metamorphosizes as a symbol of the new age.

much like how the sun’s solar flares are emitted across our planet, the exhibition will be illuminated by the ‘WALL OF THE SUN’, a vast mural of light that enhances LG’s innovative OLED technology. this advancement closely resembles natural luminosity and marks a significant progression as a pre-eminent energy-saving, human-friendly light source for the next generation. with 30,000 OLED origins, the mural mimics an actual solar flare, glimmering, bouncing and reflecting across the entire exhibition space. the illuminating installation will provide a truly mystical experience that brings visitors closer to the wonders of our world.
