alef objects presents the 'oy deer' menorah, inspired by the hebrew language

alef objects is a tel aviv based studio that creates everyday items and designs based on the hebrew alphabet. their latest offering (a collaboration with designer liran elbaz) arrives just in time for hanukkah: the proud ‘oy deer menorah’, featuring curling antlers that intertwine to form a nine branch candelabrum — perfect for the jewish holiday.

alef objects is a family affair, having been founded by brother and sister team avraham and shifra, a typographer and product designer respectively. the two confess that they’ve been obsessed with the hebrew alphabet for a while now. ‘the most important thing to know about us is that we love the hebrew language, and hebrew letters especially. in a perfect world we’d be surrounded by letters at all times.’

having been born in december, hanukkah was always the siblings’ favorite holiday — made even more special this year by its coinciding with christmas. ‘this year it’s super cool because we light the first candle on christmas eve and the last candle on new years eve, and what better way to say goodbye to the old year and hello to the new one than with lights?’  the ‘oy deer menorah’ is shaped from metal and comes in a single midnight blue colorway (a tribute to the maccabees) and even features a few alephs hidden in the horns.
