V by Sol Bucalo from spain
designer's own words:
V is more than a lighting system: it's an experience. With V we can immerse ourselves in a unique, unrepeatable artistic installation, where we play and experiment with light.
V is conceived in two modalities: mobile and fixed.
V mobile is an individual, movable light that can be adjusted to different illumination settings. This is possible thanks to OLEDs that do not dazzle, and a battery that can be charged by day to give 8hs of autonomy by night. Using Bluetooth and the Beacon protocol, V senses your proximity and sends a welcome message to your mobile phone, inviting you to play with light. Through a web connection you can change the intensity gradually (from 100 to 10), or change its color temperature (4000K to 2700K) -- this technology is still under development for OLED, but in our experiments we found it an enriching mood factor.
V Fixed works as a set. The individual Vs, fixed to a meshed fastening and charging system, forms different configurable compositions creating room dividers. The material --recycled aluminum extruded and anodised in copper, very resistant for the outside-- not only generates reflections by night, but it also gives them during the day with the sun.
One or many simultaneous guests can interact with V Fixed through the web app, drawing patterns that are immediately represented in the mesh of lights and creating each night a unique collective environment.
Product designed as the final project of a Master in Sustainable Product Design.
In its mobile version, V is conceived as a personal light.
Different positions of illumination of V mobile, thanks to its wireless autonomy and the absence of glare in OLEDs.
V mobile and V fixed in a real context, in this case an outdoor space of hospitality.
The fastening and charging system for V mobile plays a double role as a space divider.

The app allows you to control the light by changing its intensity and hue.

You can interact through the app by drawing patterns that will be reflected in the V fixed set
