this residential project by brazilian architecture practice aleph zero comprises three independent dwellings, each with a distinctive window arrangement. located in a suburban neighborhood of northern curitiba, brazil, the trio of ‘cubic houses’ forms a single, linearly-organized compact block that doesn’t occupy the total frontage of the lot. as well as providing pedestrian access, this configuration allows the neighboring forest to be preserved.

aleph zero has punctured the development’s white walls with brightly colored window frames, in red, orange, and yellow. while the fenestration is repeated across each of the three buildings, the colors change, lending each house an individual character. the colorful frames not only function as a constructive element that contributes to strengthen the walls, but also present specified views of the surrounding areas, while filtering light entering the building.

internally, the three storey residences each share the same floor plans. organized around a small fireplace, primary living accommodation is provided at ground level, with either two or three bedrooms found at the level above. the scheme’s white walls continue inside the homes, with pale timber flooring extending throughout.
