london design festival: a new collection of coffee and side tables from studio 9191 is presented at the old truman brewery. ‘HommeAge’ follows the studio’s ongoing exploration into the textures and forms of the human body. this new collection finds its inspiration in the process of aging and is a reflection of the passage of time on our skin.

studio 9191’s presentation comprises a series of limited edition coffee and side tables made from asphalt and fibre glass. common and undervalued materials have been repurposed and relocated in a new context. characteristics that are typically undesired or a sign of a ‘bad job’ in their traditional application become the focus of the collection, in a celebration of their imperfections.

studio 9191 was designed to create extraordinary objects for ordinary use. innovative material treatments are at the core of the studio’s design ethos and are implemented to bold visual effect. limited edition designs are painstakingly constructed by hand, either in-house or in collaboration with the expert knowledge of local craftsmen.
