mitsuhiro shoji completes yakiniku sora's bbq joint in china

uchida shanghai’s mitsuhiro shoji has completed the flagship location of yakiniku sora, a restaurant located in downtown shenzhen in china. the lively and energetic area is full of neon signs that are never turned off; a gesture adopted for the façade of the BBQ joint—an elevation designed in rough concrete with neon lettering. with a total area of 145 square meters, the use of different materials result in a place where people can go and enjoy a good meal while relaxing.

a door of steel mesh welcomes the visitors to yakiniku sora, a restaurant designed under the wabi-sabi concept—rustic simplicity—where minimalism is combined with warm natural objects and materials. the idea of seeing beauty in imperfection is also present as the use of materials like aging steel and rough concrete change due to use. the flooring and tables are made from local bamboo while the seating areas are made of tack and roll stitch.
