jungmo seunyeon’s wooden stable adopts a humble methodology 

the ‘autoprogrettazione manual’ was created by italian designer enzo mari in 1974 as a design guide for a collection of furniture that could be assembled using the most basic materials. the original idea consisted of a series of ‘do-it-yourself’ instructions on how to construct the various pieces of appliances. the ‘sedia 1- chair’ was the first object from mari’s thought-provoking project to go into production with finnish company artek.

studio jungmo seunyeon have taken enzo mari’s methodology of making, by designing ‘wooden stable’ – a set of stack-able wooden horses. using the ‘sedia 1- chair’ as reference, the studio created a simple silhouette that embodies the humble straight forward spirit attached to the ‘DIY’ movement. 

each horse has been constructed using just a hammer and nails

jungmo seunyeon state that ‘the ‘wooden stable’ does not have a fixed purpose of usage, but is to be used and crafted by the necessary purpose of the user. individually, wooden horses can be used to sit down on, or to stack small objects such as books and vases.’
