megan lin harnesses light’s innate qualities in gather

a beam of light enters an open window near the top of a dome, its natural golden color cascading downwards punctuated with tiny specs of dust and floating particulate. your hand reaches into its glow to instantaneous effect. warmness grasps each finger, drawing you deeper into its magnificence as your mind attempts to identify the vague, but powerful, feeling that seems to lift your soul from its physical confines.

light is a curious thing, as intangible as it is intriguing. to multi-disciplinary designer megan lin, the pureness and innate qualities of illumination are a personal fascination. an allure that eventually served as the conceptual foundation of ‘gather light’, one of three pieces in her meditation-oriented bring together collection.

composed of an angled table and pendant lamp, ‘gather light’ allows individuals to witness and directly interact with the qualities of luminescence. the table, topped with gradated blue-glass surface, can be rotated freely to mix colors of the sky. above, the lamp shines down at an ideal angle that parallels the table.
