M/M studio renders ‘signs-as-designs’ in the form of modular furniture at PLUSDESIGN gallery, milan

parisian studio M/M (mathias augustyniak and michaël amzalag) present a series of furniture rendered ‘signs-as-designs’, on display at PLUSDESIGN gallery during milan design week 2016. developed for dior homme over the last four years as props in fashion editorial images, the pieces are now reconfigured as furniture for potential use within the domestic domain. the limited edition modular works include: ‘borderline’ (2013), ‘citronnier our laurier’ (2015), ‘lampshade’ (2013), ‘stools’ (2014), ‘tables’ (2014), and ‘underlay’ (2014).

‘citronnier our laurier’ (2015)

the newest work ‘citronnier ou laurier’ (lemon tree or laurel), is a modular ‘illusory object that reflects the world around’, and stands at the centre piece of the gallery installation bringing a tangible human scale to their exhibition, ‘M/MAISON’. in addition pieces from the collection are on show at the dior homme store in via montenapoleone, 14.
