boston-based firm KVA has realized the US headquarters for the meister clean energy consultant group, and fittingly, their workspace has been designed with a low carbon approach. the scheme explores the normative material palette used in the workplace, as well as redefining the norm of organization and the furniture used.

the interiors demonstrate an ‘elastic’ floorplan that provides versatile independent and collaboration space. the elimination of cubicles, maximizes the shared space thus, creating a zone of shared mini conference rooms that provide acoustic privacy. the reduced use of partition walls means less construction materials during its realization.

a glazed conference room invites daylight and expands the adjacent café for public and educational events. the two main material finishes: zero VOC paint and plywood can be seen in the modular office furniture and conference rooms. the design team used efficient CNC milling techniques for the plywood and 100% organic finishes throughout. a distinctive feature on the pop-up desks is the single blue tension strap which provides structural integrity without the use of an adhesive
