OOIIO rehabilitates space to serve as business incubator office

spanish firm OOIIO has been announced as the winner in a public competition for the construction of a business incubator in the city of madridejos, toledo. the studio’s concept is based on the recovery of the site’s existing building in ways that enhance it in terms of sustainability, accessibility, and maintenance economy.

daily activities are organized around two patios — pre-existing — that promote the relationships between indoors, natural light, and exterior gardens. also included, was the removal of original façades, which were inadequately insulated, and suffered from the intense sunlight. this was corrected dually by the addition of insulated interior wall linings and a brick lattice wall that blocks direct light and places specific areas in total shade.

the rehabilitation project provides several offices for start up business ventures, as well as co-working areas, meeting and conference rooms, exhibition spaces, management and employee lounges.
