zemberek design creates a playful interior to showcase children’s sneakers

after completing the interior renovation of a skechers showroom in istanbul, zemberek design has again teamed up with the american footwear company to create a space to display children’s sneakers. located in the turkish city’s ortaköy neighborhood, the store seeks to hint at images of childhood perception through collective adult memories. in order to convey this message, basic geometric shapes are used, with bold splashes of color contrasting the otherwise monochrome interiors. 

the space displays children’s sneakers

fun and colorful spaces include curvilinear forms, abstracted wheels, and sliding units that symbolize movement and activity. different categories of footwear have been separated, and are contained within a range of different display units made from iron, wood, and plexiglas. above a centrally positioned meeting table, edison light bulbs hang from colored cords — continuing a sense of fun that pervades the design. read on for more photographs of the showroom, and see zemberek design’s other work on designboom here.
