salone del mobile.milano 2016: konstantin grcic is named ‘best designer’ of the salone del mobile. award 2016. the international award that highlights the design sector’s finest innovations that harness cutting-edge trends and consider up-to-the-minute modes of home living. created as a versatile desk for office settings, the ‘hack’ unit by konstantin grcic for VITRA is a table system that has been specially developed to cater to the requirements of companies and employees. stripped down from any decorative elements, the desk is made simply from OSB wood. robust and functional; the user has the option to adjust the tabletop to their desired height – whether standing or sitting – and in its lowest position can used as a sofa.

for companies who may have changing numbers of staff or a small office space; each hack unit designed by konstantin grcic forms an autonomous element whose adaptability allows it to satisfy various needs. it can be folded up into a practical, flat ‘box’ in just a few simple steps, making it easy to dismantle, transport and store. produced with sustainability in mind, the tables are manufactured on site in an energy-efficient manner, with wooden parts that are locally produced and assembled by vitra using prefabricated metal hardware.
