estudio atemporal brings baja to mexico city in campobaja interior

the ‘campobaja’ restaurant, designed by estudio atemporal in collaboration with despacho durango, brings a piece of baja to mexico city’s colonia roma. the space is separated into two levels: the lower being a small street access that leads to a covered foyer area. heading up the eatery’s stairwell reveals a dynamic, warehouse-style dining area, complete with accents of salvaged shipyard wood and chairs sourced from baja classrooms.

two thirds of the layout is covered by a pitched roof — in reference to shipyard warehouses in ensanada — the rest is open-air terrace. the roof helps flood the deepest areas with natural light, as well as help supplement temperature and ventilation. materials were left to speak for themselves, allowing for an authentic experience that transports guests to a new locale.
