in yokohama city, architect takuya tsuchida of japanese firm no.555 has completed the interior renovation of a hairdressing studio. in an attempt to stand out from other salons, the design focuses on the individual elements that make up the eclectically furnished scheme. in order to deal with increasing numbers of staff, the spatial layout remains open with no fixed walls or partitions. in addition, movable furniture can be readily relocated allowing constant reconfiguration. the various fixtures and fittings express a sense of industrial rawness, with inexpensive plywood used throughout. chairs have been modified from their original versions, while tables and counters utilize recycled wooden pallets.
