the ‘open toys’ are a series of 3D printed components meant to bring some creativity into food preparation. the youth-oriented products are to be used as a construction kit, enabling kids to play and explore food in interesting, explorative ways. ‘open toys’ were created by canadian industrial designer samuel N. bernier, and have been launched on kickstarter with the help of french digital manufacturing company le fabshop. many of the designs are already available to download for free on thingiverse, but the campaign will enable bernier and team to reach more people, and provide funding for the continuation of the series.
