Yesterday Once More by Lin from australia
designer's own words:
People with dementia. They should have lived a better life, however they can’t help losing their memory of the past. They feel lonely, they feel scared, they sit beside the window, trying in vain to remember the past.
Life is playing a joy, they born with anticipation, in the end, when their memory secretly slides away, that anticipation is not there anymore.
Yesterday Once More is a design for dementia people to reminisce. Instead of being a standalone product, I want this design to permeate into people’s daily life. Whenever the dementia patient feel lonely and want to reminisce their past, it is always there, waiting for them to discover.
I hope that one day when they sit beside the window again, what they can anticipate is not just a cold, tough window but their own vivid memory.
This design consists of switchable glass and projection set. The switchable glass is transparent in normal status, and can be sticked to our window. When being used, the switchable glass will become foggy, triggering the users to clean the window unconsciously. In the process of interacting with the foggy window, users can discover their memory over and over again.
Memory in the window.
Anticipation from the past.
Using environment.
