bringing a bit of joy to the monotony of everyday objects, british designer duncan shotton has created a clever business card holder that reads a friendly greeting upon opening. the ‘nice to meet you’ case — currently seeking funding on kickstarter — uses an optical illusion to animate the amicable message when slid ajar. as the user shifts the stainless steel cover over the plastic case, the words ‘nice, to, meet, you’ are revealed one-by-one. an additional variation sees a simple animation of planetary-like orbs spinning on the surface, named ‘orbit’.
