designer's own words:
The idea of Breathe came about when observing users using traditional masks. Users are constantly removing or lifting the mask to quickly allow exhaled air which is full of water vapours and carbon dioxide, to be removed. This constant irritation cause the user to finally remove the mask.
Traditional masks are uncomfortable and stuffy after long term usage. The material prevents quick exchange of exhaled air. This quickly accumulates inside the mask, thus making it uncomfortable and warm. However, Breathe uses an air curtain that would create a barrier between the user and foreign particles. The curtain of air is constantly flowing away from the user’s face thus pushing away any foreign particles that come close to the moving current.
The invisible air curtain not only allows for rapid exchange of exhaled air but also allows the user to show their face rather than hide it like traditional masks. This would give others around the user to feel more at ease.
The air is drawn in from the back of the mask using a powerful solid state fan which creates Electro-aerodynamic pumping to shift the air from the back of the user to the front of the user.
The main body is made from injection molded ABS and air tubes are made from stainless steel or plastics. The neck support is made from elastomer to allow for support and comfort.
Breathe is an invisible mask that creates a curtain of air around the user’s nose and mouth allowing them to breathe cleaner air and prevent foreign particles from getting breathed in.
Breathe recharges using an induction charger. The unit is made of injection molded ABS. The air tubes are interchangeable and be made from stainless steel or elastomer. The neck support is made with an elastomer to allow support and comfort.
Breathe is worn on the back of the neck and draws in air from the back. HEPA filters stop particles from getting through into the main device. The clean is then directed to the front of the user’s mouth and nose through air tubes. These air tubes are designed to create a curtain of air covering the user’s nose and mouth.
