Bi-polar by Hongmin Jin from usa
designer's own words:
Various lighting modes can be effective in changing users’ mood accordingly. Direct lighting mode is for highly-focus time, such as reading, while ambient lighting mode is for relaxing users in the atmosphere by creating subdued tones of light.
Bi-polar is such a pendant lamp that could switch modes between direct and ambient lighting. The LED component is hidden beneath the translucent plastic half sphere. Bi-polar will be casting direct light unless the user flips over the half sphere so as to turn it inside-out. When flipped over, the light will be cast upwards through the glass lampshade, to the environment, thus creating ambient light.
With one simple movement, the user can switch the room mood at large. Compared with other pendant lamps, Bi-polar is better in bringing about recreational mood which could be out of anyone’s anticipation.
