united nude once again teams up with 3D systems to create a unique 3D printed ‘ice’ shoe. balancing at a height of 21 cm (eight inches), the shoes were designed as if they were sculpted from a block of ice. using the ‘cubepro’ desktop printer, the sculptural wedges are made from PLA filament that gets combined with a stitched leather finish.

‘the 3D printing technology allows us to experiment with new shapes much quicker than before, without big development costs and for very small quantities’, explains rem d koolhaas, creative director of united nude. ‘designing and making a unique shoe for a special occasion was never this easy before. the shoe is a real showpiece with a solid wow factor. I have to admit I really like this immediate way of working!’ united nude are experts at designing crazy shoes for women. the company started in 2003, and now have managed to be available in over 50 countries worldwide.
