Touch the Light by ahsen_gulsen from turkey
designer's own words:
Touch the light aims to create an enjoyable interaction through a more tactile and meaningful interface to control the hue of light. Beyond just picking up a hue which is more machine-like but not human-like approach, it is intended to adjust this hue by controlling three channels -red, green, and blue- that determines the hue. In the end, it is aimed to enable users to control the hue by interacting with three collapsible fabric surfaces corresponding to these channels.
The main philosophy of the project based on my personal interpretation of the pleasure in a very crude human nature. We get involved to a process as far as we get a coherent reaction to our action. So it is about action and reaction; giving and taking but in a way that it is dynamic and pleasurable. This is how we understand that we actually exist.Relatively it creates an anticipation as a celebration of the existence.
I built the physical working prototype in the workshop by using fabric, plywood and mechanical fasteners. The video and the visual does include any software manipulation. You can find the electronic components used below.
The electronic material used:
Sensors: Ultrasonic Ranging Modules- HC - SR04
Transistors: IRFZ44N Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors
BD 135 NPN Bipolar Junction transistors
Heat sinks for transistors
Power Supply:100W Single Output Switching Power Supply
LEDs : FLB6 RGB Color Series Strip LED )5 meters(
Single color LED’s, red-green-blue )1 meter each(
For switch: Aluminium Foil
