the ‘IS’ house by barlas architects is a five-person residence located in palaiopanagia, a suburb of nafapaktos, greece. standing at 1,000m2, the pentagonal shaped building is constituted of five distinct zones defined by both full volumes and voids. as requested by the client, ‘IS’ maintains a direct relationship between interior and exterior spaces. on the southern and eastern sides, the home opens up almost completely, giving residents access to a covered veranda that ends near the front entrance.

common areas, like the kitchen, living and dining rooms are located on the ground floor towards the southern tip of the home. a stairwell leads to the second story, where bedrooms are spread out and kept private by the mostly opaque northern façade
