RIBA announces stirling prize shortlist for 2015

the shortlist for the 2015 RIBA stirling prize has been announced, with six new buildings competing for the most prestigious award in british architecture. the prize is judged against a range of criteria including: ‘design vision; innovation and originality; capacity to stimulate, engage and delight occupants and visitors; accessibility and sustainability; how fit the building is for its purpose and the level of client satisfaction’. the nominated works are listed in alphabetical order below:

the whitworth, university of manchester by MUMA

the shortlist includes only one work by a previous winner of the award, with a luxury apartment complex by rogers stirk harbour + partners nominated alongside a contrasting social housing scheme by niall mclaughlin architects. other nominated schemes include educational facilities by allford hall monaghan morris and heneghan peng architects, alongside MUMA‘s extension to the 19th century whitworth gallery in manchester, and a maggie’s centre in lanarkshire by reiach and hall architects.

the winner of the 2015 RIBA stirling prize will be announced on october 15, 2015.
