in the 17th century, spanish colonists noted the use of the hammock by native americans in the west indies. they were woven out of bark from a hamack tree and constructed to keep inhabitants protected from snakes, biting ants and other harmful creatures. inventor benjamin frederick and his team went beyond the traditional lightweight bed and designed a fully functioning water hammock, named ‘hydrohammock’. 

the water heater system is portable and heats pressured water from a typical garden hose or lake and recirculates it in the hammock. the material is a sealed synthetic high tensile strength fabric, that can support the weight of 50 gallons of water and two adults. it is slip resistant, fully adjustable and is easy to set up, the same way a classic hammock is suspended. the ‘hydrohammock’ is currently looking for funding on kickstarter to further help with production.
