the kyodougakusha shintoku farm is a small, residential rehabilitation center in hokkaido, japan. away from the urban bustle, the place serves as a gathering place of residents, community workers, and agricultural tourists. ‘karinnpani hall’, designed by hiroshi kawahito architecture, is the farm’s main meeting point. here, discussions, training exercises, experimental classes, and various workshops are held. the predominately open, undefined space is a large, quiet place to observe the natural landscape outside. a large porch connects interior and exterior, and serves as a site for a range of activities.
