based on the 911 GT3 RS production sports car, porsche has designed a purchasable race car for the GT3 series. the 911 GT3 R. the mighty 911 outputs 500 hp, and focuses on its lightweight design, better aerodynamic efficiency, reducing consumption, improved handling, and optimized safety standards, as well as cutting service and spare parts costs. the 911 GT3 R features a double bubble roof, and a lengthened wheelbase compared to the pervious generation. this guarantees a more balanced weight distribution and more predictable handling in fast corners. the engineers optimized the centre of gravity by applying systematic lightweight solutions to the body and suspension. the chassis of the sports car features an aluminum-steel composite construction. the body, such as the wheel arches, roof, front cover, doors, side and tail sections are made of light carbon fibre composite material. even the windows and windscreen consist are made up of polycarbonate. powering the race car is a four-litre flat-six unit with a sequential six-speed gearbox, which is identical to the engine of the road-legal 911 GT3 RS. the 2016 porsche 911 GT3 R can be ordered for €429,000 and will delivered from stuttgart on december 2015.
