after a year or two, smartphone batteries don’t last through a busy day. this makes everyone haphazardly react with a need to immediately replace it and neglect the old one. this simply act keeps serviceable batteries in the billions away from landfills, and amplifies the problem. ’better re’ goes one step further and gives the relinquished battery a more meaningful life with a chance to extract the last amounts of amperes as a short term backup power pack solution. measuring at 67.65mm (2.66 inch) by 128.5mm (5.05 inch) makes the casing slim and light.

the design is based on a simple single platform that is adaptable with a variety of different smartphone batteries, big (2,800 mAh) or small (1,810 mAh). with dual layered PMC protection, the circuitry safeguards against over charging and discharging smartphones, tablets, iPods, digital cameras and any devices with USB connection. a clear LED indication system will inform the user if the old battery is reusable. the integrated magnets hold multiple modules securely and tightly for a more expandable power capacity. manufactured with eco friendly materials such as 100% recycled aluminum and FSC-certified walnut and maple wood pieces. ‘better re’ comes in 4 different colors. a kickstarter campaign has been setup to make this project a reality.
