in the rolling hillsides north of cashmere, washington is the two-story dwelling, ‘nahahum’. completed by balance associates, the home is set into the landscape with concrete retaining walls that lead the form into the expansive landscape. the main entryway is directly into a full-height expanse that is carefully positioned to frame the most dramatic view of the canyon. the main floor has an open floor plan, moving seamlessly between living, and dining rooms, with the kitchen separated by a raised island/bar element. the space is also shared with a bathroom and multi-purpose utility area located closer to the hillside. above, is the master suite and a second bathroom with accompanying guest quarters. there’s also a small loft that can be used for a small, private area or office that opens up to the main commons below.
