the ‘forever yours’ project by product designer marc haldemann, focuses on the emotional longevity for furniture design and how this can be improved to lengthen its lifetime. creating three different types of seating; the ‘wooden stool’, ‘leather stool’ and ‘wooden chair’, a long-term bond is established through implementing an identify, individuality and interaction with the product and user.

the playful elements create a relationship with the user that grows stronger over time

the ‘wooden chair’ uses a strategy based upon the theory that playing is an elementary way of human sense-determination, to justify its ball carvings. these playful elements are conscious to the person and intends to create a personal connection which will grow as they get accustomed to it. the ‘wooden stool’ highlights its material-inherent faults in order to establish a respect and an appreciation for the object’s well-being. finally, the surface of the ‘leather stool’ transforms to reflect the particular use and communication between itself and the user.
