a winery designed by local practice kreatif architects has opened its doors, 40 kilometers outside the turkish city of izmir. located in a fertile and rural district of torbalı, the vineyards of ‘LA winery‘ are oriented along a north-south axis, while the neighboring building is situated to the northwest of the plot, presenting a bird’s eye view of the site.

the building contains two primary programs: a wine tasting area – that requires a welcoming atmosphere with sunlight, natural ventilation and pleasant views – and a cellar – where a controlled climate is essential. consequently the design team positioned the public tasting area above the wine cellar, with carefully placed openings in the floor creating a visual relationship between the two levels. the underground area of the plan consists of curvilinear concrete surfaces, cast from steel molds, while above, the primary internal space features a long span steel structure system that utilizes timber beams and natural stone cladding. externally, existing trees were maintained in the landscape design phase, while local vegetation was preferred as a natural extension of the building.
