combining storage with external functionalities is always a matter in question when it comes to children’s furnishings and toys. taking this into consideration, koichi suzuno and alicja strzyżyńska of torafu architects have designed the ‘dollhouse chair’, which takes its name from its multiple purpose use.

made for ichiro, the playful object is split down its middle and opens and closes — from chair to dollhouse and storage — on a hinge, revealing the shape of a home with a red gabled roof when unlatched. in this way, children can play with the dollhouse and stow away their toys within, by shutting the chair closed when playtime is over; these functions making the ‘dollhouse chair’ versatile.
