designer's own words:
The illuminants are being varied as technology develops, and the lightings are no longer just what to get brightness. "Life bulb" is a sensuous lighting. It is visualized its own thermal energy which we can't see. We feel the poetic, and emotional expressions as it gradually changes their colors. I propose a new lightning that we can feel the breath of light.
I designed this lighting as a challenge to the emotional expressions of lightings.
Making this lighting, the technology of Metal 3D printing and Thermochromic color coating are used. The material should be metal that is able to be 3D printed. This "Life bulb" inspires the future.
Structure detail
As we turn on the light, the Heat sink starts to be heated. Then thermochromic color slowly goes on to turn transparent, and we can see the Base coating. When we turn off the light, the color return to the original color little by little.Thermochromic colors are easily controlled to change their temperature ranges, and their colors. We can adapt those method, it becomes possible to design various expressions.
