‘ego ballerina’ is a conceptual collection of unique printed shoes by ana cvejic. each pair is adorned with graphic collage composed of memories, colors, and symbols. together with a framed portrait of their owner, they are meant to appear as an eccentric picture, such as a personal poster transmitted directly to the footwear.

the entire series is constructed of handmade italian materials. this process, in addition to the computer-generated decorations for the leather, presents a balance of ancient crafts with the advantages of new technologies. ‘if we look at the social phenomenon known as the ‘selfie’, ego ballerina represents a new medium for your portrait and which shoe is ego or alter ego depends on what is your dominant side,’ says cvejic. the project has been presented on fashion vignettes at the 36th belgrade fashion week, where visitors were able to imagine their own virtual set of customized slippers.
