house G by hammerschmid, pachl, seebacher architekten in austria

‘house G’ by hammerschmid, pachl, seebacher architekten is located in the northern part of austria, where the land is defined by calm, flowing hills and clear blue skies. staying true to the traditional architecture of the context, the studio has designed the residence within the geometry of a gable roof. after elongating the form within the extents of the site, the volume was divided into two sections. the first, is classified as the open living lounge constructed using a timber structure, where the family enjoys the warm company of guests. the second, is the retreat area in the basement that is granted sunlight through an embedded courtyard.

wooden lamellar-shaped columns prevent insights from the neighboring properties, but do not restrict the great views of the surrounding hills. in addition, the suspended staircase near the heart of the dwelling corresponds with the rest of the materials and enables light th travel vertically from the small courtyard to the lower level bathroom.
