HTC has announced the RE camera – their first photographic device that doesn’t include a viewfinder. the pocket-sized gadget has been designed small enough to fit comfortably in one’s hand and to capture everything without having to focus on anything. packed with a 16 megapixel high resolution CMOS optical sensor, the RE shoots 1080p video in HD at 30 frames per second and features a 146° ultra-wide angle lens (f2.8) that snaps every frame within a desired moment.

like the latest GoPro HERO4, the waterproof camera enables bluetooth and wi-fi (802.11b/g/n) connectivity and connects to external accessories via microUSB port. its long lasting 820 mAh battery holds enough charge for taking an average of 1,200 photos, or just under two hours of continuous HD video recording.

RE pairs seamlessly with your phone, and instantly streams everything. users can edit their photos and videos at the push of a button. in the future, the hand-held unit will also have support to back-up content to the cloud, for access from anywhere. single-button control also lets you tap for photos or press for videos, and cinematic shooting features like time-lapse and slow motion adds a level of refinement to footage.
