a garage in amsterdam’s de pijp area has been transformed by i29 interior architects into a spacious house naturally lit by large roof lights. finished with a simple material palette, the generous 230 square meter volume features rough oak wooden surfaces that provide a stark contrast with the dwelling’s white walls, black surfaces and grey cast flooring.
the bespoke kitchen includes a large wooden sliding door that covers integrated storage areas, with a contrasting black cooking island positioned in front. cabinets and the home’s fireplace share the same characteristics and contrast in materials, while wooden walls with built-in doors demarcate the entrance to more private areas. externally, a patio mediates between living accommodation and the master bedroom, with a hand knotted carpet connecting indoor and outdoor space.
