‘aikya’ by cadence architects

india-based cadence architects have developed ‘aikya’, a building above a rising glass box that establishes a new identity through visual experience. the glass façade enables the retail facility to successfully function as commercial space through the integration of ample natural lighting. using ferro concrete, the crystaline form is articulated as a chiseled component using multi faceted surfaces on the face of the structure. the inner surface of the faceted box is given a contradistinctive effect by using laser cut compressed fiber cement board. functionally, the ground is set free for parking as the building hovers over the parkade. the main staircase connects all the three floors of the commercial complex and the penthouse above, where a figural void is carved out as an atrium that spatially bridges the floors of the structure.
