atschulz design is a studio based in switzerland whose goal is to develop projects that not only ‘strive to be more than just a passive object, but establish a symbiotic relationship with its user.’ this philosophy has led to the creation of ‘anytime’, which is a hybrid furniture piece combining two species – a lightweight wardrobe and a floor lamp. taking the change in luminance throughout the day into account, the appearance of the work changes accordingly. during the day, the interior elements are hidden by the exterior surface of a polka-dot pattern. by night, it becomes a lamp through the use of LED lights, emitting rays through its perforated leather skin envelope. as a result, a mysterious space is revealed, where clothes are subtly staged to give the construction an agile and airy aesthetic. according to atschulz, ‘consisting of chosen few natural materials (like perforated leather, wood, steel) and at the same time using the least amount of them possible, ‘anytime’ fuses tradition with zeitgiest to display the ecological idea behind its concept: reduction and lightness.’
