located 60 kilometers northwest of vienna, the village of koenigsbrunn is characterized by a loess plateau that rises as much as 40 meters above the plain. at the edge of this terrace, two brothers martin and werner feiersinger – one an architect, the other an artist – designed an object that serves not only as a stage, but also as a loggia overlooking the region’s noted vineyards. framing views of the danube basin, the structure stands as a symbol of the village’s optimism – a versatile bandstand capable of hosting a variety of events.

the construct consists of nine prefabricated panels braced by a steel tube frame. the panels are made from cross laminated lumber, while the fiberglass coating on the inner and outer surfaces disguises the materiality and gives the object a subtle sheen. a curtain mounted at the back of the stage can be raised and lowered on demand.
