atahi elias and pascal blum, founders of munich-based start-up UNU motors, have introduced UNU, an electric scooter that can be virtually charged anywhere – even at your desk in any standard wall outlet – thanks to its lightweight portable lithium-ion battery unit from panasonic. the e-scooter has a battery range of up-to 100km, a top speed of 45 km/h and weighs just 58kg, which is significantly lighter than a gasoline-powered vespa. like technologies in F1, the vehicle also boasts a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS), which adds range to the 3000 watt battery cell. at 8 kilograms, the innovative electric motor is maintenance and emissions free – it eliminates all gears, the gas tank and most importantly, the use of oil. the UNU starts at only 1,699 euros, and can be delivered to your doorstep with an included license plate so it’s ready for driving right out of the box.
