new york galerie lelong presented spanish artist jaume plensa’s latest sculpture ‘blind angel’ at art basel 2012. the large lighting installation constructed  by polyester resin and stainless steel resembles a man crouched in the fetal position whilst covering his eyes. if you approach the piece closely, the word  soul becomes apparent, covering up the entire area of his mouth. in correlation with light, the scale of the sculpture creates a very spiritual like moment  due to the way it is composed. like in previous works, plensa uses large scale figures to create an emphasis on human bodies and faces.
