designed by nendo for the ‘by | n‘ line, a series of new textiles have been developed based on a sashiko-ori method. conceived in collaboration with hosoo – a weaving house founded in 1688 specialized in increasingly rare traditional crafting techniques – the textiles integrate materials like gold leaves and lacquer into the weaves, creating dramatic three-dimensional effects that change as the fabrics are viewed from different positions. available in five different patterns: ‘stairs’, ‘math’, ‘map’, ‘post’ and ‘forest’, each piece imitates needlework reflecting over 1200 years of kyoto’s nishijin woven silk trade.
