nutcreatives studio upcycles glass bottles for handmade laflor lamp

‘laflor lamp’ is a suspended lighting device created by nutcreatives studio for the spanish brand, lucirmás. the concept combines the upcycling of a glass bottle with the design of a copper lampshade. on choosing the components that were used, nutcreatives says, ‘we wanted to create a product that could last over generations. so we created a lamp with noble materials and far away from current fashion trends.’ the outcome is an object completely made by the hands of local artisans using traditional manufacturing methods and with low technologies. this functional and easy to assemble accessory is appropriate for a variety of settings – homes, restaurants, hotels – and becomes an item with lasting value as it may be used as a single unit or combined in a sequence of more elements. the final result is completed by a coat of enamel that allows the lamp to be distinguished into three different colors: white, yellow and black-brown.

the lamp can be used as a single unit or combine to create a series

a kit of parts makes the lamp easy to assemble and disassemble

during production, the bottle is sliced with a diamond saw 

passing the bottle through different abrasives helps smoothen out the edges 

tape is placed around the bottle for a clean coat of enamel

the paint is fixed by baking in the furnace 

the first step to create the shade is the cutting of the copper plate 

using different punches, the craftsman gives shape to the lampshade

the formed copper adds depth to the design
