light skeletons and figures painted in camera by janne parviainen I’m really enjoying the whimsical nature of these light paintings by helsinki-based photographer janne parviainen who has been drawing skeletons and other kinds of light figures in camera for over four years. the artist creates complex light paintings, using long-exposure photography to ‘draw’ illuminated human skeletal forms into ordinary settings.

dain fagerholm: stereographic drawings all of dain fagerholms drawings are, firstly, very where-the-wild-things-are, but also ever more awesome being that he has made these sketched 3D! his moving 3D GIFs are called ‘stereographic drawings’, taking their name from stereographic images which have existed for hundreds of years as a technique for making two dimensional images come to life.

the week in art with colossal march 17th 23rd, 2012the works exist for only a few moments, just long enough to snap a few photographs before being completely engulfed by the encroaching tide

impermanent sand paintings by andres amador san francisco-area landscape artist andreas amador etches massive sand drawings onto beaches during full moons when his canvas reaches its largest potential, using only a rake to carve shapes into the sand. the massive-scale, intricate sand paintings disappear shortly after they are created, like a kind of modern, living sand mandala.
