the ‘tracks’ table designed by alain gilles for italian company bonaldo is an extendable piece of furniture that reveals its technical system. a layering of different materials highlights the movement of the glass table top, which can easily slide out to accommodate for more people. two parallel axes act as a path for the extensions, just like the tracks for a train. constructed from oak wood in light and dark shades, or with an anthracite finish, a clear or smoked glass surface is placed over the pull system.

‘the table is also a discussion between visibility and invisibility, weight and weightlessness, cold and warm with the use of a combination of very different materials that convey different and contrasted feelings’, says alain gilles.
