for his solo show at cavalier galleries inc., new york, american artist bradley hart exhibits a selection from his highly unique oeuvre — injected bubble wrap paintings, which form pixelated photorealistic images. using syringes, hart individually injects each bubble of the plastic covering with acrylic color, paying close attention to the exchange between paint and the air trapped within, as one element can easily displace the other. the completed result is based on the intricate and painstaking coordination of the separate colors, so that they realize the overall image when viewed from a distance.

these works comprise the ‘injections’ series, yet a second collection of work is derived from the experimental process: as the liquid chroma is implanted into a bubble, the excess drips down the back of the piece. following the completion of the injections, the drops are removed from the backside of the plastic to reveal an imprint of the work, composing the ‘impression’ series. ‘viewed together, the pieces each seem to engage the other and the viewer becomes an observer of a relationship created between the two.‘ hart describes.
