drawing from digital and 8-bit icons, entrepreneur and artist jeff grady — founder of the world’s first ipod accessories company, digital lifestyle outfitters — has finished a collection of ipod art, to be presented in his first gallery exhibit, ‘pixel perfect’ at 111 minna gallery, san francisco today, april 25th, 2014. a lifelong apple macintosh user, grady purchased one of the very first ipods ever produced by apple and, within weeks of its arrival at his doorstep, grady created several innovative accessory products to accompany the blockbuster device.

now, grady has returned to the digital unit as his source of inspiration for his series of artworks, which comprise pixel-like compositions of familiar characters from vintage video games from the 1970s and 80s. he procured thousands of broken ipods and began a year-long process of creating mosaic motifs, arranging the nanos into faces and forms and mounting them on glass.
